There are several things one can do to monitor what the cookies and scripts are doing.
Empty your cookies folder and turn it into a read-only, hidden folder.
1. Open the My Computer icon on your desktop.
2. Locate the Cookies folder on your computer's hard disk. The folder is usually found in the C:WINDOWS or C:Winnt for NT directories. If using NT one should also check the C:WinntProfiles folder and go into the cookie folders in there.
3. Open the Cookie folder.
4. Delete all the files without the .txt suffix (these are the cookies) in the folder. The files with the .txt suffix are system files. But dont delete the .dat files if any are there. For some reason IE might place .dat files in your cookies folders and I dont know why.
5. Close the Cookies folder.
6.
In the C:WINDOWS directory (or in the appropriate folder if using NT), right click on the Cookies folder and select properties.
7. Mark the Read Only and hidden boxes under the Attributes heading and click OK.
This should cause the Cookies folder to only be read from and not updated.
Another tactic in fighting cookies.
1. In IE, goto Tools.
2. Select the Internet Options.
3. Select Security.
4. Adjust the bar to the level of security you wish.
5. Click on Custom Level.
6. Goto the Cookies listings.
7. Allow cookies that are stored on your computer. Select Disable Enable or Prompt.
8. Allow per-session cookies(not stored). Select Disable Enable or Prompt.
The problems here are that you either fully enable or disable cookies or might click on an endless barrage of accept cookie windows when you visit a website. As was mentioned in the article above, IE 6.0 is supposedly going to allow better user control on cookies.
more information will coming soon
